how to choose

04

The honest version: the plan you need is decided by how many domains you run, not how aggressive you want to be.

If you have one site and you're finding out whether link swapping suits you, Free is genuinely enough — five swaps a month compounds to sixty in-content links a year, which is more than most small sites ever build. Move to Pro when the 5-swap cap is the thing slowing you down, or when you add a second or third domain. Take Backlinkster only if you're managing a portfolio; the unlimited swaps matter far less than the 20-domain allowance.

Worth knowing before you pick: link building is slow regardless of plan. Backlinks take time to affect rankings, and buying a bigger plan does not shorten that. If you're weighing this against buying links, the economics of paid backlinks and what a single backlink typically costs are the relevant comparison — a single purchased link often costs more than a year of Pro.

questions

05
Am I paying for backlinks?
No. The fee is a flat monthly tool fee — it covers matching, the link checker, and monitoring. It is never a per-link fee, and no money changes hands between you and your swap partner. That distinction matters: paying a site to place a link is a link scheme under Google's guidelines, while trading content with a peer is barter.
What happens if I don't use all my swaps?
Nothing carries over. Swap allowances reset monthly. Most people on Pro use well under 100 — the cap exists to stop portfolio-scale usage on a single-site plan, not because 100 is a target to hit.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, and links you've already swapped stay live — they're on real sites, published by real owners. What you lose on cancelling is the matching queue, new swaps, and ongoing verification.
Is the free plan actually usable?
Yes. Five swaps a month on one domain is a real pace — that's 60 in-content backlinks a year if you keep at it. The paid tiers exist for people who want to move faster or run more than one site, not to make the free tier useless.
What's a Featured Spotlight Post?
A post about your site published on Backlinkster.com's resource section, containing a dofollow link to you. Pro includes one, Backlinkster includes five. It's a genuine editorial page on an established domain, not a directory listing.

Start on the free plan. If swapping doesn't suit your site, you'll know inside a month and it will have cost you nothing.
